Mackerel is a pelagic specie and moves in huge shoals in the epipelagic zone down to about 200 m (600ft.).The Mackerel is a migratory fish which can be found in the North Atlantic during the summer months.

The colour of the outer meat is red while the inner meat is white. It has a strong taste and is extremely high in oil content.
